7th peice

Materials: paper, photography, glue

Processes: I took a picture of the side of my face with my eye as the main focus, I then cut out tear shapes in gems from a crown I was wearing in a previous picture, and blue pieces of paper. Then I cut out pieces of a book I wanted to and glued them.

Ideas: I wanted to show me crying with the gems from the crown I have in a previous piece, and the other pieces. I wanted to show how I’m crying out my childhood or the pieces of me that I connect with my childhood leaving me. The words say “things had never been much worse” to help show how when things are bad I leave the parts of my childhood behind.

  1. I think this is good but is missing something.
We looked at that inspiration piece, where scale was the point. So, I would suggest adding something that introduces scale (waves? ocean? a home? so your head looks huge?)
This is one way to go (focusing on scale) but there are many. You mentioned the crown so I don't know if bringing that photo in visually (It is too hard to tie those two together since it wasn't as terribly easy to see in your last piece) Remember you have very few characters to explain these pieces, and there is a grade for connecting visually without words.
RIght now its too simple/simplistic for the college board. Maybe look at some of the things I recently sent or put this into pinterest and look at the "if you like this you might like these" and it might spur some ideas to make it more more sophisticated/clearer, etc.
